Caleb Johnson American Idol~As Long As You Love Me

Well, the 13th season of American Idol has ended and they got it right…again!

I have watched from the very first show and I know how to pick a winner!

I picked Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Reuben and Fantasia…a few I got wrong but I saw the star quality there and they went on to bigger and better things.

Jennifer, Daughtry, Adam…you get the idea!

Now on to our newest winner Caleb Johnson.

The 23 year old lead singer from Asheville left behind his band “Elijah Hooker” as he made the leap to superstar rocker.

Yes, I picked him from the start too!

I used to live in Asheville and the music scene there is bad-ass! I used to go a club called 31 Patton (on 31 Patton Avenue) and it was rockin’!

As the newest winner of AI, Caleb released his debut song, “As Long As You Love Me” and guess what…I freakin’ love it!!! I can’t get enough of this song!

CALEB ALBUM

Not only can he sing, he’s adorable and seems to be grounded in the Southern roots that the South is known for. He’s humble, grateful and seems like a cool cat! That will get him far in the whacky world of show business.

Plus he’s persistent! After two failed attempts for seasons 10 and 11, Caleb is the first hard rock and heavy metal singer to win American Idol and the second winner to have auditioned two times prior to winning American Idol.

Stay true to yourself Caleb!

He is totally a rock star from the word go and I see a long and happy future for him in the rock world.

Can’t get enough of this Asheville hottie?!? Well here ya go!

KISS Tribute Band~LOVE GUN

Hey everyone!

Still a scorcher out there today…and speaking of HOT…guess who came to town the other night?

KISS tribute band “LOVE GUN” was in town on Saturday June 9, and put on a heck of a show. Plus they were kind enough to come out and talk to me after the show and take some photos with me. How cool is that?

Now, I’m an ol’ 70’s chick and have seen the real KISS twice and am going to see them again in July.

I have also seen their tribute band STRUTTER down in North Carolina and they were awesome too!

But LOVE GUN was amazing and the lead singer who played PAUL STANLEY had his moves down pat! I mean his own mother would have trouble telling them apart!

I wanted to share some photos from the concert with you!

Enjoy! :)

Thanks guys for a great show and for being so sweet and awesome!

I look forward to seeing you again the next time you come into town!

Meet Rock Band~STATIC FRENZY!!! Maryland ROCK BAND!!

Hi everyone!

Don’t know where you are today but here in Maryland it’s over 100 degrees! I like hot weather but not fry an egg on the sidewalk kind of hot!

Speaking of HOT, I’ve been busy working on my new book LICK AND A PROMISE, Diary of a Rock Star Groupie, yes same name as my blog, imagine that! Looking for a late summer release! More later…

Wanted to introduce you to a cool band I recently had the pleasure of meeting. They are an orignal band from Maryland called STATIC FRENZY!

The guys are super cute and oh so nice and charming and if you get a chance to listen to them, you’ll enjoy them as much as I do!

Check them out!

 “STATIC FRENZY”

Mark Lolli, Robert Burkholder, Dave Cole

Disillusioned with the local music scene and a lack of musicians who wanted to create music rather then play covers of other artists, Robert Burkholder who grew up in Middletown, decided to pick up a guitar and microphone and started writing his own music.

Having spent his life playing drums, it was natural for him to get behind a drum set and a set of cymbals. “My mother was a saint! She encouraged me to keep playing!”

A veteran of several local bands in and around the area, he reconnected with old friend Mark Lolli from Brunswick, who had been in two other bands with him. They had been friends since the age of 16 and together they decided to “start banging things out.”

In the beginning, Robert had been performing all the guitar, drum, keyboards and vocal parts with Mark playing bass.

Mark, a local carpenter and graduate of Brunswick High School, is also a veteran of several local bands from the area and says, “I have rock-n-roll roots!” He also enjoys life in Brunswick and playing local clubs like the most recent Lallo’s Pizza on Jefferson Pike. “Juan (the owner) has a good appreciation of music. It‘s nice to have a local place to play.”

Robert, longing to step out from behind the drums and play guitar, the band added a drummer and begin lining up gigs. Not long after the band found some local success, the drummer quit the band and Robert got behind the drums again.

Needing another guitar player, Robert called longtime friend Dave Cole of Walkersville, whom he had known from another band, to take up guitar.

Dave, a veteran of the band “Steele Rain”, had left the music scene in 1991, and has spent 30 years in the construction business.

Robert, oh so charming and convincing, got him to join in a practice session one evening back in August of 2011 and as Dave says, “I was never asked to leave.”

Together the guys formed the Alternative/Hard Rock band STATIC FRENZY.

The band performs mostly original songs and has recently released their first CD on the label Elysium Fields Records titled, ELYSIUM WRATH.

Songs like “Rattle Me” (my favorite) and “Texas” will get the dance floor moving and you can see for yourself at their next gig on Saturday June 30 when they play Belles Sports Bar and Grill in Frederick, Maryland. Doors open at 8pm.

They will do a cover song from time to time but as Robert says, “We are becoming more choosy.”

The band is getting quite a following at local gigs and online, but sorry girls, the guys are all taken.

Robert and his wife Valerie have two children, Dave has a stepson Daniel with his “awesome” wife Candy, and Mark is married with five kids.

Robert adds, STATIC FRENZY is currently looking for a new drummer so he can go back to playing guitar. His mom won’t be happy. “She never told me to stop playing drums!”

Meet JUSTIN KALK ORCHESTRA~Rock Star Wednesday

Hi everyone!

Hope you are enjoying your Wednesday! It finally got a bit warmer here today in Maryland but not bathing suit weather yet but it’s comin’!

If you have been following me (that sounds creepy doesn’t it) then you know what Wednesday means around here. It’s ROCK STAR WEDNESDAY and today I will introduce you to a talented group of guys. These are no ordinary guys, mind you, they are personal friends of mine from way back.

Back in 2006, I used to work at a radio station and one of my jobs there was Senior Staff Writer for our monthly newspaper. I wrote a column called BACKSTAGE PASS where I interviewed local bands. One of the bands was, BLUE SKY TRAFFIC (now Justin Kalk Orchestra), and as soon as I met the lead singer, Justin and bassist/co-founder Steve, I knew without a shadow of a doubt, they were destined for stardom.

Not only are they talented, they are gorgeous and some of the nicest people you have ever met. They invited us to their New Year’s Eve party for 2012 and we had a blast!

I can remember sitting on the couch upstairs in their old farmhouse, listening to them play. I was fortunate enough to receive two CDs from them which I have in my car and still listen to on a regular basis.

So, I hope you enjoy meeting JUSTIN KALK ORCHESTRA, thanks for stopping by and have a great day! Talk soon! :)

ROCK STAR WEDNESDAY presents

JUSTIN KALK ORCHESTRA

“With his Nashville based Orchestra, Justin Kalk pens and performs a fresh brand of Rock & Roll, Hip Hop, Bluegrass and Jazz influenced Pop sounds. The songs are monster packed with catchy vocals, Olympic solos, swampy organ and a radical evolution of bass and beat madness.”

“A thunderous power trio [formed in Nashville, TN] led by the unmistakable growl of it’s Fender abusing front man: Justin Kalk [Vocals, Stratocaster, Turntables].

Cutting his teeth in the club circuit, Kalk has mastered the art of showmanship & is proving himself one of Rock & Rolls most electrifying performers.

SteO Britton [Bass & fog machine] & Jay Williams [Drumset & Laser Beams] got his back, and that’ a whole nother story.

Since the first thud of “I’ve Changed Too” at Greenwich Village’s “The Bitter End” in 2010 [their sold out release party], JKO has burnt down: NYC, Phili, Baltimore, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis, Austin, Vegas, 100+ more. Including a legendary show at “Whisky A GO GO” in Hollywood.”

Happy Birthday STEVEN TYLER!!! :)

Hi everyone!

Well, if you know anything about me, one thing is for certain. I LOVE AEROSMITH!

I have been a fan since I was 10 years old and I will leave it up to your imagination to figure out how long that’s been. Be nice! :)

My very first rock concert was back in 1979 at The Capital Center in Landover, Maryland near Washington, DC! I still have my t~shirt and concert ticket! I will cherish it forever!

Our main man STEVEN TYLER had a birthday on March 26 and he is still a hottie! Check him out! :)

A little somethin’ somethin’ bout STEVEN TYLER!

Steven Tyler (born Steven Victor Tallarico; March 26, 1948) is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the frontman and lead singer of the Boston-based rock band Aerosmith, in which he also plays the harmonica, and occasional piano and percussion. He is known as the “Demon of Screamin” due to his high screams and his wide vocal range.

He is also known for his on-stage acrobatics. During his high-energy performances, he usually dresses in bright, colorful outfits with his trademark scarves hanging from his microphone stand.

In the 1970s, Tyler rose to prominence as the frontman of Aerosmith, which released such milestone hard rock albums as Toys in the Attic and Rocks. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Tyler had a heavy drug and alcohol addiction, and the band’s popularity waned.

He completed drug rehabilitation in 1986 and subsequently maintained sobriety for 12 years, but had a relapse with prescription painkillers in the late 2000s, for which he successfully received treatment in 2009.

After Aerosmith launched a remarkable comeback in the late 1980s and early 1990s with the albums Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip, Tyler became a household name and has remained a relevant rock icon.

As a result, he has since embarked on several solo endeavors including guest appearances on other artists’ music, film and TV roles (including as a judge on America Idol), authoring a bestselling book, and solo work (including a Top 40 hit single in 2011).

However, he has continued to record music and perform with Aerosmith, after more than 41 years in the band. He is included among Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers.

He was also ranked 3rd on Hit Parader‘s Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time. In 2001 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Aerosmith, and he was the presenter when AC/DC was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003.

EARLY LIFE

Steven was born in Yonkers, New York, the son of Susan (née Blancha, died July 2008), a secretary, and Victor A. Tallarico (died September 10, 2011), a classical musician and pianist.

His father was of Italian and German descent and his mother was of Polish and English ancestry. Her father from the Russian partition of former Poland changed his surname from “Czarnyszewicz” (from the Polish czarny ‘black’) to “Blancha” (from the French blanche or Spanish blanca ‘white’).

Tyler has stated that he grew up “under his father’s piano”, and that from what his father played, he got “that emotional thing” that he has with music.

When he was sixteen, he formed his first band, called The Strangeurs, later changed to Chain Reaction, where he was the drummer, and later the lead singer.

Tyler had also been part of a few local bands, like William Proud and The Left Banke. He was expelled from Roosevelt High School due to his drug use.

He graduated from the Leonard Quintano for Young Professionals School in 1967. He attended Woodstock with Joe Perry and Joey Kramer, his future Aerosmith bandmates.

FAMILY AND RELATIONSHIPS

Tyler had a brief relationship with fashion model Bebe Buell, during which he fathered actress Liv Tyler, born in 1977.

Buell initially claimed that the father was Todd Rundgren to protect her daughter from Tyler’s drug addiction. Through Liv’s marriage to British musician Royston Langdon, Tyler has one grandson, Milo William Langdon (born December 14, 2004, in New York City).

In 1978, he married Cyrinda Foxe,an ex-Warhol model, and the former wife of New York Dolls’ lead singer David Johansen, and fathered model Mia Tyler.

He and Foxe divorced in 1987; in 1997, she published Dream On: Livin’ on the Edge With Steven Tyler and Aerosmith, a memoir of her life with Tyler. Foxe died from brain cancer in 2002.

On May 28, 1988, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tyler married his second wife, clothing designer Teresa Barrick.

With Barrick, he fathered a daughter, Chelsea Anna Tallarico (born March 6, 1989), and a son, Taj Monroe Tallarico (born January 31, 1992).

In February 2005, the couple announced that they were separating due to personal problems. In January 2006 the divorce was official.

Tyler has been in a relationship with Erin Brady since 2006. He became engaged to Brady in December 2011.  (Source: Wikipedia)

His book: “DOES THE NOISE IN MY HEAD BOTHER YOU?”

The long-awaited, never-before-told, no-holds-barred memoir from the legendary Aerosmith frontman.
Finally, all the lurid tales of debauchery, sex, drugs and rock n’ roll are told straight from the horse’s lips as The Demon of Screamin’ describes his unimaginable highs and unbelievable lows as lead singer of the biggest rock band in the world.
Prolific frontman, rock icon and sex symbol, Steven Tyler is a living legend.
With his raw, sharp-edged vocals, musical versatility and unprecedented song writing skills, Tyler has, as lead singer of Aerosmith, sold millions of records and played sell-out concerts to as many as 450,000 people.
Now, at last, he tells his own story, taking us on a wild rollercoaster ride through the bust-ups, binges, orgies and good old American excess in the jaw-droppingly honest, in-your-face way that only Tyler can.
Following a fateful meeting with his ‘mutant twin’ Joe Perry in the summer of 1970, Aerosmith was formed!and the rest, as they say, is rock history.
They released their first album in 1973, and by 1976 Aerosmith had gone from being nobodies to massive to off the radar, making history as a multi-platinum, chart-topping band. But with great success comes great excess.
Nicknamed the Toxic Twins for their insatiable appetite for drugs, booze and women, Tyler and Perry got caught up in the glamour of self-destruction – smashing each other up with guitars, having seizures and passing out on stage.
By 1980 it seemed that the band and its members were set to implode, but after successful stints in drug rehab, Aerosmith were back on track and better than ever. But although he may have given up his wicked, wicked ways, Tyler still enjoys talking about the bad old days.
He has so many outrageous stories to tell, and he’s gonna tell them all.
All the uncensored, head-spinning tales of debauchery, sex, booze, transcendence and chemical dependence you will ever want to hear.
As raucous, intoxicating and edgy as his music, this is the most outrageous rock n’ roll autobiography of all time.

FROM HIS OWN SEXY LIPS!!!
“And the things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those that got there first.”
“As good as I am, I’m nothing without my band.”
“As you know, I’m androgynous. I can wear a jacket that most guys wouldn’t put on. But you make it in guys’ sizes, and suddenly they’re wearing them. I think styles should get back to getting people to wear things that look so good that they don’t care.”
“Back then it was nothing like today. So you’d go to the bowling alley. We bowled and you could be in the back and you could make out, you know? And you know how hot it was to make out.”
“But you’ve reached them, and I’ve always wanted to reach people. I’m the first one to say I love my fans because they love that I took a chance.”
“Drugs will get you out of your own way, but we lived it, and that’s dangerous. It can actually turn around on itself and steal your soul, and that’s what happened.”
“Every life has a measure of sorrow, and sometimes this is what awakens us.”
“Great melody over great riffs is, to me, the secret of it all.”
“Humility is really important because it keeps you fresh and new.”

Welcome to my new Blog! Bands/Authors needed!

Hi there!

My name is Lisa V. Proulx and I am an author. Most of you may already know me which is cool and I appreciate that but for those of you who don’t, well here is the skinny on me.

I am the author of horror novels PUNCTURE, BENEATH THE BATTLEFIELD, DRAGGED INTO DARKNESS, KING OF SHADOWS and the inspirational book THE RAINBOW WON’T WAIT.

I have been a rock and roll chick my whole life and grew up in the 70’s. My favorite bands are AEROSMITH (all time fav), LED ZEPPELIN, KISS, BUCKCHERRY, GODSMACK, TED NUGENT and MOTLEY CRUE.

I love to write books in different genres and began writing another book in the romance/erotica style called LICK AND A PROMISE. It’s the “diary” of rock star groupie, Poppy Bleu, and the rock stars she loved and lusted. For mature audiences only!

This is my first BLOG edition of LICK AND A PROMISE so come back and check me out and see what else I have to offer. More info below!!! :)

LICK AND A PROMISE

At 16, Poppy Bishop was a teenage runaway. At 17, she was in bed with the lead guitarist of one the biggest bands in rock history. She went on to become Poppy Bleu, a “famous” groupie who bedded rock stars, their wives (and girlfriends) and became a junkie by the time she was 21. But she never forgot her first rock star and to her delight, he never forgot her.

For over 20 years, Poppy Bleu was known in the rock and roll world as the best backstage lay and liked, loved and hated by some of the world’s biggest rock stars. Her story is one of drugs, sex and rock and roll and how she went from groupie to junkie to author and becoming the love of a lead guitarist’s life who saved her from a life of ruin.

It’s already getting some great reviews!

***EARLY REVIEWS***

“Raw, brutal and the hottest sex scenes ever written! You’ll need a cold shower after reading this one!”

“Wow! What a ride! In this first book of the series, Poppy takes you into a world of sex from a young age to the sordid life of a rock star groupie. It’s not all glitz and glamour but it’s filled with plenty of rock and roll, drugs and lots of sex! The scenes with her aunt as they drive cross country together are hilarious!”

“A romance, an erotica and a comedic work of art! I couldn’t put this thing down. The sex scenes are so erotic that I had trouble getting pass them without calling my husband into the room. Thanks Poppy for a lot of bedroom ideas! A total must read!!!”

“A no holds barred look at the life of a teenage groupie. The sex scenes alone are worth the read. The love story of the book is tenderly done and also erotic. The junkie life is hard to read but a vital part of this young woman’s story! She leaves the reader guessing as to whom the rock stars of the book are and that made me want to read it even more. I can’t wait for the rest of the series. A must read for any rock star fan!”

LICK AND A PROMISE will be the first in the Rock Star series and all the books will be based on some truth, some fiction. I’ll leave it up to you to figure out what’s true or not true! ;)

Anyhoo…this site is going to be dedicated to all the rock and rollers out there and to the women who love them (and lust after them)
